Let me begin with saying that the fault is mine: I’m trying to migrate one WP site to another domain, and failed at something.
Yet, I cannot access any of the wp-admin pages because each time I enter the password and reply to the math problem to prove I’m not a robot, I receive a failure notice.
Now, I swear I can add 10+0 or 8+9, but the result is always the same: I get a wrong answer notice.
I tried by asking to reset the password.
    Same thing.

I have now two websites (www.beufville.com and https://www.barbarapedemonte.com) from which I am blocked out.

    Can you help me?
    thank you in advance.
    Barbara

  • I am taking you have FTP/SFTP access? Copy your plugins folder and rename it something like plugins-old. Now that you have a copy of all your plugins, remove everything from the original plugins folder. Try to access your site now. This will rule out any issues with plugins.

My problem is that I am locked out of my sites. The login is impossible because I always get this reply from WordPress:

“You failed to correctly answer the math problem. This is used to combat spam when the Protect API is unavailable. Please use your browser’s back button to return to the login form, press the “refresh” button to generate a new math problem, and try to log in again.”

But if the question is 10+8, why 18 is not correct?

My fault has been changing the website address within one of the two dashboards, not barbarapedemonte redirects me to beufville and beufville redirects me to barbarapedemonte. But I cannot enter the dashboard to fix it.

No problems with plugins, but with login.

Sorry if I do not understand your reply, I obviously need to take a course on this…

    just to clear the problem:
I reset the password within the Cpanel, but WordPress is not allowing me to enter because it cannot count! (6+0 is 6 and I get a WRONG ANSWER reply).

Often times, plugins can cause odd issues with your sites. So by deactivating (or removing them from the plugins folder) you can try to run your site as basic as possible. While this may not fix it, at least you will know if you plugins are causing the issue.

The reason I am looking at the plugins, is the WordPress out of the box has no recaptcha on the login. So it is most likely put there by one of your plugins.

Ok, thank you. I’ll try and see if it works.
(I didn’t understand the first time you told me ?? )

I managed by uninstalling WP from one domain and re-installing it.
The problem was that I had set the “limit attempt login” feature and that was causing problems.

    Thank you for your patience.

I have the same problem, sorta. I enabled ReCaptcha on a form I was testing. In order to test the form (I am working with setting the emails in Contact Form 7) I would have to log out of admin and test the form. When I finally got the form the way I wanted it and it worked great, I enabled the captcha on that form. So I went to log-in my wpadmin, and now there is a ReCaptcha on my login that says ERROR for site owner, invalid site key. I must have done something wrong but I don’t know how to fix it. I can’t sign in so I can’t disable the ReCaptcha plugin. I know my keys because I went to Google and looked them up. I am able to get to my SQL database via PHP myadmin. But now what? I just want to get back into my site. I read somewhere that if I could login to my sql I could (Execute, UPDATE system SET status = 0 WHERE name = “ReCaptcha”;) I don’t know what execute means in my database. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help. I am on a tight deadline.
