Have set up User links to create a menu item pointing to wp-admin/post-new.php and also a menu item on the top menu so that uses can post new articles. However, I then decided to enable the Themed Profiles module and additionally ticked the Restrict Admin Access for some categories of users. As a result the menu item no longer works, instead is redirected to the edit Your Profile page.

So is this by design? If so do you have a Themed new Post page template? Then uses won’t have to use the standard wordpress admin page to create new posts.

    Thanks,

    Roy

This is by design as wp-admin/post-new.php is part of the Admin area. Why not just not restrict admin access for those roles?

Thanks for that. I did as you suggested, but then found another plugin which allowed users to submit posts using a normal page (and therefore matching the current theme) rather than the wordpress admin page. So all is now good.
