I’m trying to find the reason why sometimes my site is not accessible, or only after some time (and after an error message).
After running tools.pingdom.com I found out that compared to other plugins or images, the popups-plugin seems to require very much time to load (16.31 secs), where most of the othter don’t even require half a second.
    The message is
    https://mysite.nl/?spu_action=spu_load&lang=

I’m not sure if that’s the real reason, but I disabled the plugin for now, and the problem seems to be gone.
I hope you may be able to explain if there is a relation or not.

Hi those tools , the same way as P3 profile don’t explain the users what that time really means.

That’s an ajax call fired once the page is loaded, so it really don’t affect user experience.

The ajax call is not cached, so if you server is not good enough it could take more time than usual to serve the response.

If you want you can disable ajax mode and the plugin will simple print the popup when the whole page is rendered. The only problem with this is that if you are using page cache and more complex display rules it won’t work.

For example if you have a display rule to show the popup only to users from certain country. And when that user visits your site the page cache is generated , then every other use will see the popup.

In other words. If you have page cache + complex rules you need ajax mode. If not simple turn it off.

    Hi Damian,
thanks for the explanation, that certainly helps to rule out the popup plugin as the cause for the slow loading problem.
