Update causes sharing window to open in new tab

    I updated to 4.7 on three sites and the behavior of the Sharing window has changed. Instead of opening in a smaller popup window, the sharing window now opens, full size, in a new tab. I don’t care for this behavior and I think it will be confusing/annoying for users. Most sites that have social media sharing capabilities open the sharing window in a smaller popup.

    Why was this changed and can it be changed back?

    I haven’t gone so far as to look into the code, but obviously something changed. So the only solution I can think of is for the Jetpack developers to fix whatever they broke. I don’t think this is a theme/plugin conflict issue since I had it happen on three separate sites running two different themes and different sets of plugins.

    I’m hoping they will chime in here soon. I’m not updating my other sites until this is resolved.

    Could you all try to update to Jetpack 4.7.1? It should solve the issue!

    Yes, updating to 4.7.1 brings back the popup window. Thank you!
