We just installed Give and I’m learning how to create a form.

I’ve see several tutorials that show a preview button, but I don’t have one.

Since this is a new installation, I’m wondering if our webmaster missed something?

I’d really prefer to be able to preview the donation form before publishing.

Any ideas? PS, I’m not totally sure that I selected the correct version of WP, but I think we have a current version.

    Missing Preview Button

    HI there,

Hmmm… that’s a bit odd. It would be helpful to confirm that you’re on WordPress version 4.7.3 and Give version 1.8.5

Other than that, I would try disabling other plugins to see if that resolves it. If it does, activate them again one at a time and check the Preview button each time until you see the problem again. Then let me know which plugin triggered that issue and I’ll see if I can reproduce it and find a workaround for you.

    Thanks!

Hey @momrox – Try going to WP-Admin > Settings > Permalinks and clicking update (you don’t have to change anything). Then go back to your form. You should see the preview button. Let me know if this fixes it for you.

    Thank you, Matt and Devin.

I have verified that we’re on WP 4.7.3 and Give 1.8.5

I tried the instructions for WP-Admin>settings>permalinks screen but don’t see an update option there.

I did try clicking the “save changes” button, but that did not fix the problem of the missing preview button.

Here’s a cropped image of the permalinks screen, in case that sheds some light on where I went wrong.

    Many thanks!

We don’t have any other users reporting this at all, which suggests this is unique to your environment. Please deactivate all plugins besides Give. If it works as expected then re-activate each plugin one at a time until you see the problem again. Then let us know which plugin caused the error and we’ll dig into it.

If after deactivating all other plugins it still does not work correctly, then tell us where we can get a copy of your theme to test.

    Thank you, Matt.

I really appreciate the additional feedback and will follow the instructions provided.

Just in case it’s might provide a clue as to what is going on here, here’s what happened when I “published” the form (it’s just as strange as the missing preview button!):

I logged on this morning and decided to go ahead and “publish” the form so that I could see what it looks like. We’re on a test site so that seemed like an ok thing.

Once published I clicked to view form and the homepage popped up with the homepage url displayed in the browser address bar.

So I typed in the address (which I could see when I hovered over the “display form” link.

Same thing happened…..the url in the browser address bar changed back from what I had typed in, to the homepage url.

OK, double-check something for me then:

Go to “Donations > Settings > Display Options” then click on the “Post Types sub-menu link. In there you’ll see “Form Single Views” as an option. Make sure that is Enabled, then refresh your permalinks again.

    Thanks for this.

I followed your instructions and found that Form Single Views was already enabled as an option. In fact all the Setting>Display Options were marked as enabled.

I disabled all the plugins, including Give. I reactivated Give and clicked on “Donations”

I still see no preview button.

And when I try to see the form, my browser is redirected back to the homepage.

I am able to use the short code to add the form onto a blank page and so now I can see what it looks like. That’s progress!

It looks nothing at all like the forms in the tutorials, but I did test and it does seem to be working.

I’m not sure what to do next.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the very fast fix once I submitted the request through your contact form.

Most excellent help experience I’ve had in a long time!

Hello, I have the exact same problem as momrox. Was there a solution to this problem? All my give form single views are not working on my site https://www.prhc.us for example :

    https://www.prhc.us/donations/massachusetts-hospital-school-foundation-donation/

I too don’t have preview buttons or permalinks listed on any of my donation forms just like momrox. Please advise as the site has been working for over a year with no problems and now donations are not able to be executed.
    thanks so much,
    joe

    Hi @jcaiani

Somehow with @momrox the settings didn’t save correctly. So we went to “Donations > Settings > Display Options” and DISABLED the Single Give Form, saved, then Enabled and saved again. Then saved Permalinks again. Then all was fine.

Let me know how that goes.
