Hi, seems like a great plugin.

However, I’m having an issue with New comment/awaiting moderation for posts. It seems that the site admin gets sent an email, but not the user who triggered. Email Log plugin confirms this too.

Is this expected? I was sort of under the impression that this was a plugin meant to notify users that their comments are awaiting moderation etc.

    Thanks

    Hi @udapud,
    Thanks for your message.

If you deactivate BNFW, login as a user and publish a new comment that will require moderation, are you (the user) notified that your comment is awaiting moderation?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi @voltronik,

No I’m afraid not. Email log shows only one email going out and that is to the site admin.

    Cheers

    Hi @udapud,
In that case, that’s your answer.
As, at it’s core anyway, BNFW is meant to replace the WordPress default notifications, this is an area that has yet to be improved and so hasn’t gone past the default system in terms of doing this like notifying the user that their comment has been submitted or moderated, etc.

The comment notifications are particularly tricky, such as you cannot split the New Comment or Comment Awaiting Moderation notifications into two due to a restriction in WordPress.

Not the answer you’re looking for I know, but at least you know things aren’t broken.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Ah. Ok. So we can’t use this plugin to send a user who provides their email upon commenting/or a user of the site an email to say that their comment is awaiting moderation?

We were hoping to increase engagement by providing notifications after leaving comments.

    Hi @udapud,

Unfortunately not at the moment, no.
I’d also love to see this functionality but as far as I know, it’s not possible at the moment.

    Thanks,
    Jack
