Post type order -Can drag and drop sort on backing, no change in front end

We have been using this plugin for over and it worked perfectly. Latest version of WordPress, Latest version of the plugin. Now we can sort in the admin area and save. Posts are in the correct order but nothing changed on the front end.
I set up a copy of the site on a local server and have the same results.
We are sorting in a photo gallery and in posts, same results for both.
I also deleted the plugin and reinstalled a fresh copy – no change.
