• Hello,

When backing up my site, I get this pretty often:

Error: (2121) Unable to backup your plugins. Please try again

The workaround to resolve the issue appears to be ensuring your plugins are up to date. Once my plugins are up to date, I have no problems running the backup.

  • I also have CodePinch installed and it informed me of the following errors that could be helpful:

Warning: ZipArchive::close(): Failure to create temporary file: No such file or directory
    wp-content/plugins/wp-backitup/lib/includes/class-zip.php 75

Warning: ZipArchive::getStatusString(): Invalid or uninitialized Zip object

    Hi @beeneeb,

Sorry for the trouble, if the backup failed at plugins we recommend that you change the plugin batch size and we have a solution page that may help https://support.wpbackitup.com/solution/articles/5000675827-backing-up-plugins-failed

Otherwise if you are still getting errors we suggest that you submit a ticket to support. I didn’t see one for this email address so wasn’t sure if I had any additional information yet for you.

All requests may be submitted using the WPBackItUp Support Portal. Please go to the link below and fill out the support request form. We recommend that you provide as much detail as possible and we’ll be in touch soon.

    Thanks again.

I ran into a similar issue, but the backup always stopped at the “Uploads” folder. I had about 9GB of audio files that couldn’t be backed up. I still reduced that down to 2GB and that still caused WPBackItUp to fail, so I removed all the audio files and moved them to Amazon S3 instead. But that was my issue. It seemed that WPBackItUp had an issue backing up a large amount of files in the Uploads folder.

    Thanks for the post @closdesign

We have many customers with extremely large sites(many many gigabytes) and what we have found is that it’s not how large a site is, it’s the size of your files. The challenge we run into when adding extremely large files like video or audio files is that it’s very memory intensive so we sometimes see timeouts when we hit the max memory allocation for a site.

So the issue really depends on the hosting provider and how much memory they will allow you to allocate to your site. WPBackItUp will adjust the number of files to be included in a zip based on the size we find works best but when you have a few really large files, sometimes you will run into this problem.

When we encounter this issue we normally ask customers to increase the memory setting for their site and the problem is often resolved, but some hosts do not allow this.

Sorry we ran into trouble with your site. Did you work my my support team to try to get this working?

    Chris
