  • If you’re the admin of the plugin you want to check, then you will see an “Admin” link just below the Download button which can be used to check plugin stats.

    Hope you find it. ??

You want to know how other plugins are doing so that you can improve your promotion company? How does that work?

Yes. It is necessary to estimate the part of the traffic that comes to my plugin comparing with other similar ones.

I do miss the feature of being able to look at what % of users are using the current version of the plugin – that was helpful to determine if the current version was stable.

Also the total download count. That was useful for seeing what percent of installs resulted in active installs. A plugin with a low percent means that a lot of people that install it don’t end up liking it for some reason, so I might want to try another plugin instead.

All of that is good but what was wrong when all statistic was available to everyone?

Guys if you want to develop wordpress web site you need to think about analysing users behaviour and character for sugesting the best sutuable plagins and themes like it has done by youtube for videos. Changing the design will bring a little help.

    Best regards,
    Ivan.

I don’t think anything was wrong and that information may become public again. Or not; it’s not meant for marketing purposes as much as it’s intended to let people know how active that plugin is download-wise.

If you want to develop WordPress sites then you need to know what plugins do and how. That’s via looking and using the plugins on test sites. The download counter has nothing to do with that. It’s only when developers and designers understand how a plugin works that they should make a recommendation.

There could be an Amazingly Bad Implemented Plugin that is downloaded often (there are a few and no, I’m not saying which) that no sane developer or designer would recommend.

I want only get the statistics back.

If “bad” plugin is downloading more often then “good” one it tells that his owner caried more about its promotion (in other words it has more succesefull marketing company, you may call it SEO). And if you analysing the market you should care about the gradients (one of them described by Scott Paterson see above) instead of totals.
Typical castomers little care about “quality” they usually take that lies on the surface. Sort the plugins manually seems to be impossible because the market is growing very fast. Youtube algorithms are quite smart and alows to promote new videos (they are based on gradients) i wish www.ads-software.com has something like this.

Actually i do not want to talk about marketing – it is verry tricky and everyone has his own strategue and mind. I only want to get back the statistics. If you think that there was nothing wrong let us to use it PLEASE!!!

One more issue in the new plugins dirrectory: It looses some search results, for example look for “pdf viewer” by the new plugins dirrectory search and by wordpress dashboard plugins search. It looses some results independing of search target (tag, keyword). Now searching by tag does not work at all – it shows all the items.
