Changing a post to a page?

  • Right now I have a post I published. I realized the content is better suited for a page.

    I want to copy the content, delete it, and quickly re-create a page with the exact same URL.

    Is this going to cause any issues with my database? Having a page with the exact URL of a former post that I deleted?

  • Hi, my suggestion is to copy the content, create the page, and finally delete the old page that had created the sitemap, this is the correct procedure

    ^^ If I do that I won’t be able to create the page with the same URL. I guess I can do a slightly different URL.

    Or am I missing something?

    1. Copy the HTML (text tab) from the POST and paste into a Plain Text Editor. Save the file just in case.
    2. Trash and then delete from trash the POST.
    3. Create a new PAGE with same slug and copy the text from the Plain Text Editor to the HTML (text tab) of the PAGE editor.
    4. Save the PAGE.
    5. Add to your Menu unless using default Pages Menu.
    6. Since the new PAGE will have the same exact URL (assuming your permalinks are set to /%postname%/) and the content will be identical, what matters is the URL – it’s the same. Your sitemap will adjust with the Search Engines over time.

    Done. You will not have a DB issue if done properly.
