    Hi,
I still get the “Saving failed.” message when I try to adjust settings. I found some posts about this from a year ago but haven’t seen anything since. I’m still having this issue. I have two fairly similar dedicated servers and this happens with sites on one of the servers, but not the other, so I feel like I may be able to help find the root cause if you’d like to help me troubleshoot. Please let me know what information I can give you.
    Thanks!

There are many places in Types where you could receive a “Saving Failed” message.

I need to know where, when and how this happens.

Also it’s necessary to know whether this happens without any other Plugin or not.

Sorry for the slow response – my notification from www.ads-software.com went to my junk folder.

I’m referring to the Toolset Settings page on the “General” tab.

I just did a fresh install of WP 4.7.4 and installed only Toolset Types. I went to Toolset -> Settings and clicked on the “Edit Post pages” checkbox. The checkbox unchecks, but the screen gets a gray overlay with a message in a pink box: “Saving failed. Please reload the page and try again.”

With further experimentation I find that the problem is only with the three checkboxes in the “Front-end Display table” section. Settings in the other sections save with no issue. Clicking any of the three checkboxes in the “Front-end” section produce the error.

I went to one of the other sites on this same server and found the same thing: the error only happens with the checkboxes.
    Thanks!

I’m having the exact same problem. In the Settings for Toolset Types, I’m trying to uncheck the Edit Post Pages from the Front End Display option

Unchecking any of the 3 boxes in the “Front-end Display” table settings results in this error.

So I’m not the only one ?? Just to reiterate from my original post: I have two dedicated servers and this problem happens on only one of them, so we could look at the differences between these servers to help diagnose the issue, I just need your help in knowing what information you need.

OK, Finally I know where the issue happens.

I cannot replicate it, but since you say, this is working on some servers but not on others, it’s probably the PHP version or some AJAX blocking script/security block.

I use PHP 7+ locally, and the latest MySQL.

Maybe you can get the PHP Info of your Servers and compare them, or send them to me, so maybe we can find the issue.

Also, there could be an error in the console, can you check it?
What also can help is logging the Errors so to see what’s going wrong:

Please let me know, so we can solve this also for you!

Duh, I didn’t think to enable debug.
    debug.log says…
[28-May-2017 15:29:51 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_convert_case() in /home/boulderq/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/types/application/controllers/ajax.php on line 119

That function requires the php module, mbstring. That’s not part of the default php package, I guess. I’ve installed that module the problem is gone!

    Thanks!
