• SO I have been using wordpress stats on my blog for a while now but in the last few weeks I’ve noticed an odd new link listed under “Clicks”. To my understanding that section is links that i have put on my site that visitors have clicked on. But I don’t recognize this link and when I click on it I get a blank page, so my question is what is this?

    my sites name/wp-content/upload…

  • whats the url, displaying part of it doesnt do anything. break it if you need to, but youre simply going to have do better than providing no real domain and a partial path.

I feel like Im on a wierd internet game show sometimes around here.

that site, btw, if its the one in question, needs to be upgraded. asap.

hey now, we aren’t all technically savvy!

Yes that’s the right site. After “upload…” i can’t see the rest of the link that’s why I’m asking.
What do you mean by upgrade? How do I do that and will it change the look or theme?

If there IS an un-upgraded WP site, however, whooami, then I suggest that it would be better NOT to link the site here — and to delete a link to it if one exists (2 posts up). Malicious hackers may troll this forum looking for vulnerable WP site links. Being linked here could increase your risk factors as a potential target.

We can refer to a domain without making it an obvious hyperlink (break the URL or don’t put http)

@ the original poster, instructions to upgrade,

You do as you wish. I link to sites constantly here and make no bones about it, nor am I going to modify that behaviour.

    Why?

Because its easier to click than it is to copy and paste the url into my browser. Im the one doing the helping, so Im going to make it simple for me. If someone else doesnt want their site linked than they can contact a mod to have the url removed..

When and if you become a mod, than you can wander around behind the 20+ threads I respond to daily and edit my links.

Furthermore, dont turn this thread into something about me. Im not looking for a pissing match, but if you want to address me, Ill have to respond.

Nycgirl, I would recommend hiding your site link in your Profile here. Then look into upgrading.

It isn’t advisable to have your site linked on the WP forum, in the event that you’re not running the latest version of WP at any moment in time.

thats not where I found it. you didnt look before typing that, I presume.

@whooami, you may Of Course!! do what you wish. I always read your advice here, and I follow your site as well. To that end I’ve just sent you an off-forum explanation as well. I don’t ever want to “edit” your posts. Sorry my suggestion above Not to put links on this forum of known-outdated WP installations has come across in a disagreeable way.

I dunno where you found her link. I’m just always surprised when the original poster hides their link, and then another poster calls it out.
