Is anyone else having problems with the Visual Editor / Page&Post Edit since updating to 4.7.4? When I go into page edit, nothing appears in the visual editor, and I cannnot change to the text editor either, so I just have blank space and no way to edit my pages/posts. This seems to have happened since the new update was released. I have tried in three different browsers.

  • I’m having a similar issue since the update. The tabs for Visual and Text are completely gone. I can only edit in html format. As a matter of fact, that’s all I see here too, not Visual tab.

Forgot to mention, I’ve tried on many different sites, some with plugins and some without. Changed the theme and everything normal to see if it was an issue with the themes or plugins, but it happens with the basic wordpress theme and fresh install.

Still am having trouble with this. Strange thing is that if I log in with a different user account, I can access the text editor, but cannot access the visual editor. When I log in with my user account, it defaults to the visual editor, which shows no information, and I can’t switch to the visual editor. Same thing in Chrome, Firefox, Safari

Yours may actually be an issue that is solvable. In my search on solving this issue, I found that under your user profile there is a check box at the very top that lets you turn your visual editor on and off. If that works for you and you are on the latest WordPress please let me know. Then that means I’m alone in this even though it’s on every website I log into

Thanks. I was able to resolve the issue after doing some more research. Apparently what is very common when a new wordpress version is released, is that old versions of plugins are incompatible and can causes these kinds of errors. Two steps to try:
1st. Go into your updates section and make sure you update all of your plugins to the newest version. Most popular plugins will have a new update when a new wordpress version is released. That is what solved it for me.
If that doesn’t work for you, go and deactivate all of your plugins and see if that resolves the issue. If so, you’ll need to go through your plugins one by one reactivating them and seeing which one is causing the problem. Then you would leave that plugin deactivated until they release a fix for it.

Hope that fixes it for you.

As I mentioned above, it is doing it for me on a clean install too.

I also just found out it’s on all version of wordpress, so this is definitely an issue on my end.

And is happening on all browsers on all wordpress installs…. ??

So…. I found the issue. It turns out to be a problem with the way I connect to the internet. Which I have no idea on how that would affect it. I connect using my phone as a usb based connect. For some reason when I connect through there the problem occurs. But if I use a differe wifi or something it’s just fine.

I have no idea why or how this is a problem, but…

well at least you got it sorted!

Yeah, finally. Just a heads up for anyone tethering using PdaNet, don’t hide your tethering or you won’t be able to use the tabs…..
