• This is quite hard to explain and only showed up via google, even though these pages aren’t on the sitemap.xml – or on the database. I can’t tell why this issue exists.

Some pages are appearing in the results with /page/2/ at the end, and in this case providing results slightly differently eg.
    https://www.URL.co.uk/social-media-assets
    https://www.URL.co.uk/social-media-assets/page/2/

It’s not something I’ve created knowingly myself.

I see that https://www.URL.co.uk/quote/page/1/ automatically goes to the correct page, but https://www.URL.co.uk/quote/page/2/, https://www.URL.co.uk/quote/page/3, https://www.URL.co.uk/quote/page/4/ etc. keep that url title.

Any clues why this exists would be really helpful – and I can investigate myself further if required. I don’t where to start…

Is it a caching issue? Is it permalinks – I’ve changed from Plain back to Post name to clear anything and problem still exists.

  • I was awaiting to see whether someone else will come up with something, but since there was no takers, all I can say is that it is really hard to guess what’s wrong without having the real url of your website.

    Hi Sinip

I have more information on the problem.

On this page: https://www.redoniondesign.co.uk/social-media-assets there is a portfolio with a load more button.

So if we add page/2 to this URL, https://www.redoniondesign.co.uk/social-media-assets/page/2 –?it shows the second page of portfolio items and so on with page/3 page/4 etc. However you’ll see there’s not enough projects in the portfolio for too many extra pages – so it’s blank.

Annoyingly on pages without a portfolio it still happens eg.https://www.redoniondesign.co.uk/graphic-design-services/page/3/

I really don’t want these extra pages as they effect SEO –?and I’m not sure why they’re there.

Well, Google on my side gives only two pages (basic one and /2/) for the query site:redoniondesign.co.uk/social-media-assets-design/ so I’d say that whatever caused that non-existing pages to show up in Google, it is ok now. And if I’d have to guess I’d say that it is your theme that is doing pagination.
