Category Filtering

I need to be able to isolate photos by category – for instance, Cars, Trains, Planes. When you click on Cars, only cars will be displayed etc. Right now all that happens is it will go the photo but have all the photos in the display area to scroll thru. How do I only have the photos specific to category show?
