I have migrated a site to a new server. Updated the Google Drive link which has worked. I am following the “Follow this link to attempt to create the directory and set the permissions” link and it generates the backup folder and gives it 775 permissions but then fails to write into it with the error:

Backup directory could not be created…

The folder exists, but your webserver does not have permission to write to it. You will need to consult with your web hosting provider to find out how to set permissions for a WordPress plugin to write to the directory. (/[edited out].co.uk/wp-content/updraft)

At this point it has already written to the site to create the “updraft” folder and given it 775 permissions so it should be able to write to that folder?
I’ve already tried changing the permissions on the updraft folder to 777 as a test but it still doesn’t work.

    Can anyone help please?

This is the best thing to do. At this point, UpdraftPlus has tried everything that it has permission to do – but it nothing can work.

Also – as well as file permissions, try checking the ownerships.
