Show Excerpt field text under image Nimble Portfolio

How can I add the Excerpt text (or the Description text) for an item underneath the space where the image shows in the default skin? I am editing the items.php page and see where the code should go but how do I get the Excerpt (or description) field?
Any help greatly appreciated!
