• Our business model offers free downloadable products which require a valid email address. (We send the link to their email address). Customers opt in to our marketing email list by taking a free product.

We’re currently using another eCommerce WordPress plugin that supports this requirement but it doesn’t offer other features that WooCommerce does. We’re in the process of converting to WooCommerce but we can’t figure out how to require a valid email address in return for a free product. It appears that they can type anything in the email field and will still be taken to the page to download the product.

We recognise that we could uncheck the box to access the links after checkout, but we need that option for our paying customers.

Is there any way around this that anyone is aware of?

    Many thanks for any help.
    Isabel

Costumers must receive the mail with the link for the download, isn’t it?

    Yes that’s correct.

So couldn’t be a solution write in the product description that by downloading the free product the used mail will be added to the newsletter list?

Unfortunately the problem is that they can put in a non-existent email address and they’ll still be taken to the next page where the download link is. Nothing forces them to put in a correct email address.
What we want is to get a valid email address before they can download the free content.
