Can WordPress & Movable Type share a database?

I’m setting up a new WordPress installation on a site where I’m already using Movable Type. Since I don’t know much about how the database end works, I figured it would be safer to ask first (did some searching but couldn’t come up with an answer): Can WordPress share a database with Movable Type? It’d simplify things a lot for me, but I wasn’t sure if the two of them will play nice together in one database.
