• Why is my google crawl stats ‘Time spent downloading a page (in milliseconds)’ so high? Our average is 3,100! I followed Yoast’s robot.txt example and followed all of Yoast’s google SEO speed recommendations?

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations to speed this up?

  • Hi factual,

the “Time spent downloading a page (in ms)” states, how long it takes the Google Bot to complete a HTTP request. This is nothing related to rendering the page itself – unlike most of the Yoast recommendations.

If you want to improve your page speed, consider to enable browser caching and gzip comporession. If you are using a shared hosting, this may be also an issue.

    Best regards,

Ok, but isnt an average of 3,100 bad? Should we work on improving that?

Right now I am browsing your site via a very slow hotel WLAN and it is loading in the blink of an eye. The desktop loading speed is superb.

If you want to improve your stats, please have a look at the Google PageSpeed Insights link I’ve included in my last post. Consider both of my stated improvements.

    Best regards,
    Marvin
