unable to update to WordPress 4.8: inconsistent file permissions: xmlrpc.php

  • Hello,

    my blog have been running without any update problems since 2013. Now, when I would like to update to 4.8 an error message appears (see Topic title).

    I did not Change any file permissions on the Server in the last years.

    Permission for xmlrpc.php is 444 and I can not Change that.

    Can somebody help?

  • you should contact your hosting provider since you have to change file permission to 644 . 644 gives you write permission which is needed for updating the file.
