I’ve noticed in the past two weeks a lot of my image links are no longer working, so most of my older blog posts don’t have images anymore. I have been able to manually edit the url for some of them, but it’s taking forever since virtually every image url is broken. Additionally, I have found that entire months of photos in my photo library have been deleted (for example, Feb and April 2016 folders don’t even exist even though I have posts that used to have photos from those months), and images from other folders have disappeared as well (Jan 2016 only has 2 photos even though I know there should be many more). Since these photos have disappeared, I can’t even re-add to the posts if the link is broken. I know the urls aren’t broken because the source was deleted, the photos were all uploaded to the media library prior to adding to post. This has been extremely frustrating and I don’t know what caused this to happen or how to fix it! Please help!

  • Have you moved your site recently? Or restored it from some sort of backup?

This sounds like something you might want to discuss with your host.

Don’t you have a back-up of your site somewhere? Hosting providers often do back-ups on a regular basis, maybe you could ask them.

If there isn’t a back-up, there’s no way of retreiving these images. I’m afraid you’d have to upload them all over again.
