Merging from backup via cpanel _Posts (old) Database to working website

  • I made a directory copy of my post database in cpanel. I can see my posts in the database. I have a new install (up and running) WP website. Now I want to MERGE those posts into the new website.

    I can’t log into the ‘backed up’ directory of the old website but have full file access through file manager (as well as the database files of the old website).

    How do I merge those old posts from the old_posts into the working website?

  • 1. Create a test WP install somewhere on server
    2 Import the old database to this install
    3. Go to wp-admin/tools/export and export the posts
    4. Import them to new WP instance

    And that should be about it.
