Why are there slashes at the end of the sitemap URLs?

    I’ve just installed Simple WP Sitemap Premium. I clicked on the links for the two sitemaps and they both give URLs that end in a slash. My link checker knows the .xml and .html shouldn’t have a slash (/) after them. How is that getting added to the end of the file name? Can it be taken out?
