• Hi, I’m trying to change the name of the shop page as it appears in internet tabs and search results.

    – I have changed the page name to “Shop Pro Black Apparel”
    – I have updated the title in my Yoast SEO settings to the same

For some reason the page is still showing up as “Products Archive.”

I also use your Virtue theme for a different website, and changing the name of the page worked there. What am I missing with Ascend theme?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hey,
Becuase the shop page is actually considered an archive you have to set it in the yoast custom post type settings. see here:

    Hey Ben,

Thanks so much for your response. I’ve already been through the Yoast documentationa and have actually been having problems with the YOAST plugin after the last update (it’s not working at all, already waiting for help in their support forum) so I might have to go with another SEO plugin.

Anyways is there any other way to change the name of my Shop page besides through an SEO plugin?

    Thanks.

    Hey,
I just tested with the latest version of Ascend and the latest version of yaost. The method above works just great. It’s possible you have a 3rd plugin breaking yoast. Have you tried deactivating your other plugins?

Unfortunately, I did. I deactivated everything except for Yoast and Woocommerce, and the plugin still wasn’t working. When I write a title/meta description, it saves the settings in the Yoast plugin but doesn’t show up on facebook/google. I went through a bunch of Yoast’s blog posts to read about instances where google changes the title for you, proper formulas, etc, still no luck. Not sure what’s going on.

    Thanks for your help anyway!

Don’t forget that Google and Facebook both have their own caches, so it’s possible that you may just need to wait a bit before they’re caches are updated.

    Hey,
I what to make sure this is absolutely clear. To edit the shop page title you have to go to “Titles & Metas” in your SEO Menu. This is not the page that is called shop in your pages. This is a different area of the wordpress admin.

There you have to make sure you edit the “custom post type archive” for products.

This is under the “post types” tab.

Looking on your site I can see the title is still the default so it’s not a caching issue with facebook or google.

Can you send a screen shot of how you have edited this specific area?
