I run WP 4.8 with Wordfence 6.3.12. I used MySQL 5.7 as a backend, and migrated it to AWS RDS MySQL 5.7 instance (used standard “mysqldump –triggers –routines” ). Created a user for WP with full privileges for WP databases, fixed config.php, restarted.
Everything is fine after migration, but Wordfence lost all its settings.
The only workaround I found it’s delete Wordfence and install it again.
    What I did wrong?

    TIA, Vitaly

  • Hello Vitaly,
One reason for that could be the database user privileges on the old website from where you exported the database? perhaps something wrong happened while exporting ” wp_wfConfig” table for specific (which holds all Wordfence settings), if you still have the old website running, you can use “Export option” in Wordfence to load the same settings on the new website.

    Thanks.

But doesn’t Wordfence use the same DB credentials as WP?

    Thank you, Vitaly

Yes, it does, but since I’ve seen some WordPress installations with restricted database user as mentioned in this guide, I thought it could be the case here.

    Thanks.
