• Hi,
Thanks for a great hack that is easy to install.
I need to alphabetize the order once I sort by category. At the moment when I sort by category there doesna€?t seem to be any discernible order, not date (either post or modified), title or post ID.
Ia€?ve looked throught the code (and my WordPress DB) but am not smart enough to know where to look.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA
    Phillip

  • I don’t have access to the code today but it shouldn’t be hard to sort. I’ll take a look at it tomorrow.

Phillip, I’m a little confused as to what you want it to do. With mine in categories it sorts it alphabetically and by date.
See? Did you want it to do something different?
Maybe I’m using something different than you’re using.

When I checked your site and sorted by category, the entries within each respective category are sorted by date first starting with the oldest. Mine don’t seem to have any order and I want them ordered alphabetically within each category.
    mine are here:
    https://www.planetphillip.com/archives.php
The only changes I made to the code were to remove the author drop down box because there’s only me.
    Hope that’s clearer.
    BTW
I like the various search buttons on the bottom of your archives. Nice.

So you want everything alphabetical in the categories…sorry I have no idea how to do that, but I would like the option of doing that as well as I never really noticed it before! I will be watching this thread closely.
Thanks for the compliment! I thought that it made sense to put them on that page. Not really another place for them! ??

Forgive me for being pushy, but any progress Beel?
    TIA

I too would be interested in this. My category headers sort alphabetically, but the individual entries beneath it appear in random order. I want mine to first sort by category, then by date with the most recent post near the top. gregsbaby64’s page does this, except the date with the most recent post appears near the bottom instead of the top.

In going through the major wordpress player sites, such as weblogtoolscollection.com, binarybonsai.com, mindfulmusings.net, and billhayes.us I’ve noticed that all of them show the oldest post per category when you sort by category. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a solution to do the reverse yet. I’ve tinkered but I admit that I’m lost to this task. The way it is now seems counter to what most people would want to do with nicerarchives.
Please, anyway? This would make nicerarchive what it seems it was meant to be, i.e., sortable and editable.
My main difference is that I’m using narchives_cats.php to exclude certain categories, posted at https://www.qogo.com/wpplugins/, but I think if a solution is posted for the regular version I’d be able to put it together in any version.
    Thanks,
    Scott
