  • Just through experimentation it seems anything above thumbnail keeps the proportaions. For example, in my default settings if I leave height and width set to 300 x 300 and upload a 3888 x 2592 image, then it is cropped to 300 x 200. If I change the default settings to 0 x 300, then that same image is cropped to 450 x 300. I haven’t done the math, but it seems proportions are maintained…which is good.

The thumbnail does have a check box in the settings area that allows them to be cropped to exact deminsions, but that isn’t available in larger sizes. I guess if you wanted a square 300 x 300 image, you could set that as the default for thumbnail…of course, your images would most likely be skewed unless you are uploading square images.

In my blog use all 3 types of images generated by wordpress.

    Miniature 150x150px
    Medium 300x300px
    Large 800×600 or 600×800

And I need that the image has a median ratio symmetrical in both height and width, no matter who cut part of the picture.

That means an original image, for example. 1024x768px that would have grown to 300x300px.

I do not understand because it only allows wordpress generate thumbnails not symmetrical and medium-symmetrical.

I’m using WP 2.7…maybe there is a difference in your version.

What I want is that both the height and width of the image are the same medium.

forgiveness for my English, Spanish’m xd

I think the only way you can do that without hacking the code is to set the thumbnail to 300 x 300 (or whatever size you want) and make sure “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions is checked”, then use the thumbnail for your medium image.

But maybe someone else knows a better or different way.

Use wordpress as Photolog, and my design theme to display 2 galleries with images square.

    Gallery 1 with thumbnail images
    Gallery 2 medium with images

I think that chooses to use that option, use the thumbnail configured to the needs of an image median. 300×300 and for display in the gallery thumbnails rescale the images to 150×150 with style = “width: 150px; height: 150px;”

    correct?

But I would like to know if you opened any better way.

    Thank you.

The Scissors plugin version >= 1.2.6 adds support for cropping of medium and large images to the specified dimensions … if you still need a solution after all these months.
