I have a question about the user interaction with a NextGen gallery. Currently on my gallery when you click an image it expands into a lightbox. How do you close that image? Well that’s the part that is not exactly clear. If you click on the image directly, nothing happens. If you click outside the image, or on the “X” in a small area of controls in the top left, the lightbox becomes a dark 80% transparent gray. Then if you click the image, it disappears. But if you now click outside the image for some reason, nothing happens.

So, does this seem like a intuitive and simple process for a user? I really don’t think so. “I’ve opened this image, now how do I close it?” The current flow is confusing as heck.

I’m wondering if mine is buggy or why this would be in a dimple gallery plugin in 2017.

Please any suggestions or thoughts on how to improve this, I am all ears. Thank you!

@forumusr – You have two different Lightbox Effects being triggered, I would suggest disabling one of them which will reduce the issues with some of the intuitiveness of the one you keep. Although I cannot tell specifically what the second Lightbox Effect is, you can disable the NextGEN Gallery one under Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects.

    Thanks!

Ok thank you that really helps clear it up. I can see now how two lightboxes are competing. I have adjusted as you describe. Thank you.

Actually, not fully resolved. I’ve modified the NextGen lighbox style, but I’m still getting a secondary lightbox that remains after clicking away the first one. I’m wondering if this is some kind of default WordPress thing. If so I have no idea where to modify that. Also wondering why this should be happening. If at all possible please view the gallery and the effect in question here:

    Thank you.

@forumusr – Did you disable all but one of the Lightbox Effects on your site? WordPress itself does not have a default triggered Lightbox Effect, it would require an active plugin or your current theme to trigger any Lightbox within WordPress itself.

This is where you will likely need to look next although the link you provided seems to be working fine (it looks like the last rendition although I am only seeing the one Lightbox at a quick viewing).

    Thanks!
