Hi
Quick questions rarely have simple answers ??
To start with: Upgrading Jigoshop 1.x from 1.4.9 to 1.18.2 would need to be done in series – first upgrading to 1.7.x (if I remember correctly) then to 1.8, 1.11 and so on, since there were major database changes between these releases, and upgrading directly might end up in breaking up the database.
That said – prior to the upgrade I’d suggest creating a full site backup.
About the version itself – since Jigoshop 1.18.2 (same goes for 1.18.3) requires PHP 5.4, and there are no known incompatibilities with MySQL 5.5.55, so it’s certainly possible to run Jigoshop 1.18.2 and 1.18.3 on the server configuration you listed.
We don’t support the 1.x version anymore, BUT…
If you’d be interested (and if possible of course) in upgrading the PHP version of the server to 5.6 or higher, we will be able to assist you in migrating the client’s site to Jigoshop eCommerce using a backup of your site on our dev servers – providing you with the feedback necessary to migrate to our newer, superior product.
Additionally, we offer Custom Development services, including migration from 1.x to eCommerce.
