Out of curiosity what are the conditions that a Developer can re-submit an app to www.ads-software.com to clear their negative reviews and technically start from scratch?

I and others have had issues with a specific plugin on WordPress and today I noticed that all reviews have been cleared and the app’s address now has a digit at the end i,e wordpress(.)org/plugin-name-2

Surely devs shouldn’t be able to clear their reviews in such a manner?

    Hi there,

It’s not possible for a developer to re-submit something to clear their name, so to speak, this sounds like a glitch somewhere if anything. We will need you to actually disclose what plugin you are talking about though, or else we can’t look into it at all.

I sincerely hope that is never permitted.

I review the reviews. It’s often gripping reading and I just can’t put it down sometimes. ??

Negative reviews are part and parcel of having a plugin hosted on WordPress here. Plugin authors do not need to have a perfect 5 star score. Anyone attempting to use the reviews here as a marketing tool is making a huge mistake.

Authors should not try and game the reviews. They should reply well to them and that will always take care of it. No one here just looks at the over star stats, users do read the reviews.

If a plugin author wants to reset your reviews then earn that with the users. Doing what you proposed should not be permitted because that would be an attempt to game the reviews. Gamification here is always frowned upon.

The link for the plugin is as follows https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordapp-mobile-app/
when clicking the link I’m diverted to the above link with the addition of the digit 2, where when clicking reviews they don’t show and neither does any of the support posts for the plugin.

I was wanting to update my review in light of the dev actually responding to support issues, but hence I’m not 100% sure if he is trying to hide the issues or if its a glitch with the WordPress website?

That’s a bug. Not a resubmit. We’re working on it.

Edit: I think it’s fixed now. This was unintentional, and the developer did nothing to cause the issue. Weird combination of circumstances and timing, that’s all.

To touch on this as the plugin review team rep: There are none. You don’t get a do-over in life, after all.

If you ask us to delete a plugin, you don’t get it back and if you resubmit it with a new name, we grill you as to why you’re doing this. 90% of the time, you don’t get a new name (10% is related to trademarks and lawsuits).
