• I’ve created a blog at https://www.linakingston.com and foe some reason the sidebar doesn’t want to show up on the Blog page. It shows up on every other page and also on individual posts, but not on the post index page. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, if you go to the Libre demo site and scroll down to Widgets, you will see that the sidebar only shows up on single posts and pages, not on blog or archive style pages (category, date, or tag). With a Child Theme, you could copy over and modify the content.php template parts file, and add the sidebar to that file, but given that the title and meta data are shown to the left of the post content/featured image, it would be quite crowded. You would have to move the title and meta data to above the post featured image and content to have enough room.

Thanks for your reply, @sacredpath. I just read over how to create a child theme and it seems a bit over my head…do you have a lot of experience doing this?

For this, it is a bit involved, and it is best to set up and work on a local install of WordPress (on your computer) so that you don’t have issues with your site going down due to a syntax error. That isn’t entirely necessary though as you can revert back to the non-child theme reasonably quickly if something goes wrong. After the changes are made and solid, then you can copy paste into the live site child theme. You might want to post at jobs.wordpress.net and see if someone will respond and give you a quote on making that change for you.
