    Hi,

In the past, I was able to install the Yoast plugin and it auto-generated a meta description from the first few lines of a post or page. I no longer see that to be the case on several of my websites. Is it because I’m using the auto-builder drag-n-drop widgets? Maybe the content blocks are not being rendered?

    I appreciate the support.

    Cheers!

We have a few open issues regarding excerpts not showing. To help determine if these open reports are the same for you, please answer the following:

    1. Does the excerpt show in Yoast SEO metabox when editing a post/page?
    2. Does the excerpt show in the page source when viewing a post/page?
    3. Do you have the %%excerpt%% variable set for the post/page templates?
    4. Which page/content builder are you using?

    Hi @amboutwe

    To answer your questions:

    1. Yes, excerpt is shown in the Yoast SEO metabox
    2. Yes, but it is not the same as excerpt shown in Yoast SEO metabox. Here is one URL I am talking about:

    https://hireinfluence.com/blog/influencer-spotlight-kathryn-morgan-ballet-beauty-lifestyle/

It doesn’t show content, but it does display text of the “related posts” widget at the end of the page.

    3. Yes, %%excerpt%% is in the template

    4. I am using visual builder.

That is indeed strange. Sometimes strange behavior may be caused by a plugin or theme conflict. The fastest way to rule out conflicts is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Seventeen. If this resolves the issue, you have a conflict and should activate one plugin at a time until you locate the conflict. Finally, after all plugins are active, switch to your theme. This will narrow down the conflict to a specific plugin or theme.

If you are unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we wrote a small guide that will walk you through the steps. You can find it here: How To Check For Plugin Conflicts
