Not sure when it happened but the wordpress app on android now generates an “invalid term ID” error and will not publish posts to my site. The wordpress app on the iPad still works fine with the same connections details. Any clues?? Whatever the problem is appears to be Android-app specific.

  • Hello,

Do You have updated WordPress/plugins or Android APP before error started?

    Hi Matthew

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Both the WordPress site and the app are both set to auto-update and are at the latest versions. WP is 4.8.1. The app is 7.9

I’m just baffled why the app works fine on the iPad but not on the Android phone. I have tried uninstalling the app, rebooting the phone and then reinstalling – didn’t help – still got the error.

    thanks

    Ian

An interesting detail. If I add a photo to the post, the photo is saved to the image library, but the post still fails to publish (same invalid term ID error).

@sterndata Thank You for information and sorry for this.

@ian-helliwell Will be best to contact with author of Android APP.
But, if problem will be not resolved after contact with author then You can still reply in this thread or write to us directly via e-mail support|at|77solutions.eu.

Same problem here – everything is up to latest version. Apple iPhone APP works but Android reports Invalid Term ID error.

The previous version of the app worked, the new version (7.9) fails across multiple Android phones and multiple sites.

The same as the OP, the images from the post are loaded into the Media Gallery as expected, but the post with the media in it remains marked as a local draft on the phone. Repeated attempts to publish fail with the same error.

    Same thing for me.

Multisite is broken. : Invalid Term ID

    Android 6 , 7 => same thing
It seems ok with android 7.8

I created a new install of WP and started adding plug-ins etc to mirror my site. After a couple of false starts I got it to fail after configuring JetPack. Not entirely sure if this is the only cause – I also reverted from PHP7 to 5.6 along the way. But I now have it where enabling JetPack causes the posts from the Android app to fail (and once they fail they will keep failing until you re-start your phone) but if I disable JetPack they will post OK.

I’ll keep trying – but at least this gives me something to work with.

One other thing – I had raised this as a support issue using the in-app contact support feature. The nice support people got back to me to say that a new version 7.9.1 would fix the problem – it didn’t. I have just passed on what I have found so lets hope it helps them with a fix.

Same problem here, funny it worked a few days ago.

Yep same here, makes the app pretty much useless! Concur with the Jetpack install, but I find I can edit existing articles in the app, just not create new ones!

My work-around for this has been to create a load of dummy, unpublished posts via the web interface, and just mod these using the app.

I went the other route – deactivated JetPack and everything now works fine (and my site runs significantly faster). I was using Jetpack for various things – subscribe, contact forms, widget visibility etc so it has been a real pain to find alternative plug-ins and configure and test them to replace the functionality.

For info, WP app for iPhone was also failing to post correctly – post went through to site but images not displayed. This also fixed by deleting JetPack.
