• Hi, this is a repost of this topic https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/not-loading-images-via-https/

I am getting the same problem of these graphics loading by http rather than https.

The site /wp-admin/options-general.php uses https:// and everything else on the page loads ok via https. I’ve also done a search and replace on the whole site to remove any reference to http.

I’ve tried disabling and re-enabling and uninstalling and re-installing. Both work for a while but after a few hours the plug-in goes back to using http. I’ve disabled the plug-in for now but happy to put back if it helps you debug.

I love the plug-in BTW. It is so much better than the default WP or Avada ones.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I don’t really have a different answer to last time!

Are you using a shortcode or a widget? If the former, I could add a ‘forceHTTPS’ tag!

Do you have a test page I could look at?

    Best wishes,

    Martin

I’ve put it back on the footer of windsorlink.co.uk. It’s added as a widget.

At the moment it is working in https. As I said, previously this has been fine for a day or so but then seems to go back to using http. It probably won’t now that you’re looking!

PS: One obvious short-term solution is to use a different display format (via the widget) or official_format (via the shortcode).

I’ll also have another look at the plugins_url() function.

I’ve replace plugins_url() with plugin_dir_url() in a couple of places.

    Has it solved the problem?

The new file is at https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/rotatingtweets.zip

    Does it work for you?

    I see you’re on the latest version and it’s still working… ??

Hi, I installed it yesterday evening. Seemed to work fine for a while but now broken.

    Very strange.

I just tried it on a couple of browsers (phone and tablet) and it worked fine.

Does it make a difference whether you are logged into the site or not? Or which browser you use?

    (@bathugeo)

It doesn’t seem to matter for me which browser I use. I usually test it from whynopadlock.com so I’m not confusing myself with cached pages or my own log in. I’ve just tested it again and it’s showing the rotating tweets images as not being https.

Just tried it again from a 3rd browser! Padlock was fine…

The HTML is also showing https://

    This is very odd.

Do you use the widget more than once?

    whynopadlock.com also worked!

Yes padlock back now but I haven’t changed anything. I don’t know why it works sometimes and not others. I’ll keep monitoring.

    Sudden thought….

Do you have any caching software? And/or have you not tweeted for a while?

It might have been calling back an old version – either via your cache – or the RT cache…

Just been to have a look and it’s showing as insecure. ??

Can you check that you’ve not got https:// in your site settings anywhere – including in WP_CONTENT_URL in wp-config.php?

I’ll do some experimenting with the is_ssl() function as well.

Martin, sorry for the delay responding.
Tweeting sometimes seems to break the padlock (although as the problem is intermittent, I’m not sure about that). The only thing that seems to work reliably (for a while) is removing the widget then re-adding it.
Yes, I do have WP Super Cache installed but I have tried deleting the cache to no effect.
I have done a search and replace on the whole site to remove any reference to https://
    Any other ideas?
I’m happy to give you access to the site if that would help?
