News titles disappeared on homepage

The red banner at the bottom had 4 vertical images and the titles that were clickable to get the full articles. After updating a couple of plugins this evening the photos are all horizontal and the titles have disappeared. When hovering over the photos icons now appear that I’m not fond of. Does anyone know how to restore it to how it was before? Thanks
