• Help!! My wordpress theme had a bug in it, and we had to add a new theme. When my developer was installing the theme she had shut all the plug-ins off including the blubrry media player which had all my podcast links (over six hundred individual episodes). When she went back to reactivated it, we realized we had lost all the links, on the individual posts. So according to iTunes a podcast we have done for seven years has only 8 episodes. ?? So we have slowly been manually adding them back in. Is there any other work around that can speed up this process since everything was there, and we don’t go through this again??/ Any help would be appreciated.

PowerPress stores all of your podcast episode information in the WordPress database. Deleting and/or deactivating the plugin shouldn’t have caused a loss of that data. My guess is that your developer did more than just adjust plugins and/or the theme. It seems likely that something the developer did removed that information from your WordPress database. If possible, you could try restoring the database from a backup. Otherwise, you’re left with the manual rebuild as you’re doing now.

    Hello @erthstationone,

As Shawn said, the episode data is stored in the database in a post_meta table, which complements each posts. If your developer deleted that table or cleared it out, that would explain why the meta data is gone.

Did you have any luck restoring from a backup and re-discovering the post_meta table data?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

The developer didn’t touch the data table when she turned off the plug-ins, and loaded the new theme. So that’s why we are stumped

Did the developer edit each blog post during the time PowerPress was disabled (e.g. did more than just move the site but also edit the content)? WordPress has logic (if no podcast plugin) where if the podcast link is not in the blog post and the post is updated that the enclosure is deleted. If so that would explain it. Again restoring from a backup before this all happened would restore this post meta data.

As long as you have a podcasting plugin (such as PowerPress) enabled when you edit posts you will not loose podcast data.
