I’m wondering if there’s a way to set up auto-inserted ads / placements so that an ad only appears if there isn’t already an ad on that page.

We are hoping to do manual ad placement via shortcodes within posts, but we have a backlog of posts that we’d like to simply auto-insert ads on. So, ideally we’d have a placement insert an ad at the bottom of a post – but only if there isn’t already an instance of that ad on that post via shortcode.

Is there a way to set this up within the plugin? Let me know if you have any suggestions.

    Hi erin,

thanks for sharing your use case.

There is no direct way to do this with Advanced Ads. You could mark those posts with a tag or so and use that to target the auto injected ads.

Or you could set a cookie within the manually set ads, if they are placed before the auto injected once. You could then use the cookie condition in Pro for the auto injected ad to be only visible when the cookie does not exist.

Thanks for the details Thomas. I think we may just auto-insert on posts older than a certain date and use the shortcode moving forward.
