Encrypt Database – Feature

Thank you for choosing Backup WD plugin!
It does have database encryption, you can enable it the following way.

Please edit the backup job you created and navigate to DB Backup tab. Scroll down to find Encrypt DB file option and activate it.

Imagine WordPress website went lost so you create a new WordPress install, install your plug in and how to decrupt database?

You don’t need to decrypt the file in case you restore the database backup through Backup WD plugin. Simply download the file and import it from Backup WD > Restore page.

So you are able to decrupt any database with a custom password used by you?

So database can be decripted by anyone just use your plugin?

If I have the backup on DropBox and want download it than be able to decrypt database how I can do?

I created a full backup of domainA.ext with database crypted
downloaded the backup from DropBox

Created a clean wordpress install on domainB.ext
installed your plugin
used resume database: a blank page is showed and no resume database was done.

Also if the database will be big cannot be uploaded on the page . User should be able to find how to decrypt database not only from your plugin. Is your plugin using a same password for all cryption?

I should come back to use the other backup plugin, this seesm is not working for me.

Please note, that only you can restore database backup files through Backup WD plugin. It does not require code when you restore a DB backup file.

However, the database file of a website will only be restored to the same website where it was created from and not to anywhere else.

This is why the restoration did not work when you tried on a fresh WordPress install. Let us know in case you have questions.
