    I am interested in using this plugin more to verify that the mobile number is valid than for two-factor authentication. Is it possible to set it for a one-time implementation (verify email and verify mobile number) and allow login via email/account every other time, only requiring two-factor authentication for lost/recover password and perhaps yearly to check if the mobile number is still valid rather than it being two-factor all the time?

    If you are looking to verify email and mobile during registration then you should use this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/miniorange-otp-verification/ This plugin has the feature to verify user’s email and mobile number during registration and compatible with various popular forms.

    If you want to use the email verification or mobile verification at login time also but don’t want to invoke it at each login prompt then you should use “Remember device” functionality of the plugin. By enabling this feature, you will not ask to verify email or mobile on each login from the same device. You can save your personal device so that you can login using your username and password from the same device. When you will login from another device then it will prompt for email and mobile verification.
