Installation Error

  • I know that this has been asked countless times on this- and other- forums, but no matter what I try, I can’t seem to get it working. So sorry to repeat the question:

    I’m using hosting on godaddy & can’t seem to get wordpress installed on it. I have a clean MySQL database on it- nothing installed/added/uploaded to it.

    I’ve filled out the wp-config file correctly, and uploaded. When I run the install file it says that wordpress is already installed. It isn’t. & godaddy does not offer wordpress, so it isn’t pre-installed already.

    Any ideas?

  • Godaddy use to offer WordPress installation under their Hosting Connection (or something like that).

    You need a Linux account at Godaddy for WordPress to work.

    If you created a database, then you can enter phpMyAdmin via the Open Manager link displayed with that database–might see if you have any tables in there cause WordPress is finding tables that have the $table_prefix you specified in wp-config.php (e.g. wp_options).

    you would have to prove that to me – there are always configuration problems unless you have gotten better in the last week.
    Why do you keep pushing windows servers? if you are a tech person, you full well know linux servers runs nearly all software scripts better, faster and easier than windows. installs on linux are clean and quick.
    also, when folks sign up, godaddy should explain what servers work better with what. there are few instances where folks need a windows server and they assume at sign up that since their local machine runs windows, they need their host server to be windows.
    in reality linux should be the default server at sign up and windows offered only for special sites.
