I’m not sure when it began but currently calendar view does not shows any events. Of course list view is showing event up correctly. I have not update the plugin from June this year(ver4.4.3). No plugin updated, no setting changed, but it happened. Please tell me what should I check/do for fixing it?
    Thanks, aw

  • Hi, this was a problem caused by the WordPress 4.8.2 update.

Wordpress made some security related changes that prevented code in the Event Calendar from executing. Later the same day, the Events Calendar team issued a hot fix update — you can read more about that here:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/hotfix-the-events-calendar-4-5-12-3/

So right now, no version of The Events Calendar before version 4.5.12.3 is fully compatible with the current version of WordPress.

So you would either need to upgrade The Events Calendar to the current version, or roll back your WordPress installation to the previous version.

Thank you very much, @abigailm . I will revert to the previous version of WP once. Your reply is very helpful for us, thanks a lot again. aw

Thanks for helping out there, @abigailm ??

@aw – the topic is marked as resolved so I’m guessing you’re happy at this point, but I did want to note that downgrading WP probably isn’t the safest course of action from a security perspective and, if at all possible, updating both it and The Events Calendar (and indeed any other components) to the latest versions is generally the best course of action in this scenario.

Yes, I will update both of WP and The Event Calendar. But I’ve customized this plugin, and probably its layout will be broken by plugin update. So before do it, I will build a mirror site and checking the effect of updating. I’d like to know how to customize plugins that are not affected by updates… Thanks a lot, aw

That’s definitely a safe and sensible way to proceed.

I’m not quite sure if this is what you mean, but we try hard to build all our plugins so that you don’t need to modify and core plugin code, even for very extensive customizations.

Ample actions, filters and template override opportunities are provided and where they fall short, we’re always open to suggestions that we add more ??

    Thanks again, @barryhughes-1 ??
I don’t know what happen when I update the plugin actually. So I think that I should check it at other environment before update online.
Yes, I want to use it without customize (I know this is best way), but it was necessary for realize my client’s request. ;-(

OK – well that being the case some testing on a staging/development site definitely seems worthwhile ??
