Starting this morning (or at least as far as I’m aware), we’re receiving a fatal error message for Sermon Manager. The error message given is:

Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded

Additionally, none of the shortcodes seem to be working.

We’re on 2.7.2 which seemed to resolve the issue in recent threads about a similar issue but hasn’t for us. WP version is 4.8.2, PHP is 5.6.31.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Getting the same error with that version.

    WP 4.8.2 with PHP 5.4

    Hi,
I receive a fatal error when i activate the sermon manager plugin.
Sermon Manager for WordPress encountered a fatal error and recovered successfully
but I can use the sermon plugin
Class name must be a valid object or a string intext:”Plugin: Sermon Manager”

    Hey @jfleischauer and @willjohnston-1,

Could you try re-activating Sermon Manager? ??
(Just click on “Re-activate” button in the notice that showed up in admin area)

    @kaporal,

There’s a bug in 2.7.2 where Sermon Manager will catch fatal errors of other plugins as well. It’s been fixed in upcoming 2.8. Can you download and install development version with the fix? ??
It would be great if you let us know if it works

Re-activation usually works but plug-in then deactivates again at a random time afterwards.

Same here as what Will is describing.

Alright, @willjohnston-1 and @jfleischauer, I will have to ask you two to please install the development version as well. ??

So far so good on the development version – at the very least the shortcodes are working again, and will update if the fatal error occurs again (so far it hasn’t).

Perfect! Thanks for getting back to us

You can safely use development version until official release ??
(you will be notified in admin area for an update as usual)

Apologies for the delay (UK based) – have deployed the development version and all seems ok. Will monitor.

    Thanks,

    Will

I am having the same problems. In addition, the reactivate button for some reason isnt clickable on the popup. Will try the development version.

    Hey @elmills81,

Can you please tell us what browser are you using?

By the way, 2.8 is officially released, no need to download development version.

    Thanks ??

I was using Firefox 55.0.3, but then switched to Chrome Version 60.0.3112.113. I ended up uninstalling the plugin fully and then reinstalling to resolve.
