Video not playing in Safari 11

    Hi,

    I am using plugin on a website to create a background for one of the sections. The video plays great on Chrome but it does not play at all on Safari 11.

    I am running the latest version of WordPress and latest version of the Video Background plugin (2.6.3)

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks for using Video Background!

    This issue is very odd as it looks like you’ve set up the video background perfectly.

    It may be an issue with the encoding of your video. Would you please try and upload and use the video files in the link below to see if they work? This will determine if it’s an issue with the encoding of your video files or not.

    same issue.

    The video play well in Chrome and firefox after ssl was installed on our site, but it doe not play in safari,

    Media error: Format(s) not supported or source(s) not found

    I tested your demo videos, but same issue

    anyway to resolve?

    This issue was found that it was actually related to how inline videos can be played when Safari 11 was released.

    Webkit determined that, by default, video backgrounds with sound enabled will not play.

    A solution would be to “mute” the video background.

    Hi Alex,

    This is a feature in Video Background metabox. Just make sure “Play the Audio?” is disabled.

    I too have the same issue of my video not playing in Safari. I do have “Play the audio” turned off in the home page meta box. I also tried turning it on and off hoping to fix the issue.

    Safari 11.1 on an iMac.

    Hi pcgs51,

    I took a look at your site and found the video background playing as expected ??

    Additionally, alexlii, upgrading to the newest version of the plugin may resolve this issue as it fixes some conditions that need to be met for video backgrounds to play.
