Hi, I am planning a move to Yoast premium. I have perhaps 100 301 redirects in my website that are handled in the .htaccess with a 301 redirect statement.

    Two questions:

    1) Am I better leaving these as they are and handling new redirects in yoast? Or should I some how convert all these into a yoast redirect? And how do I do that?

    2) If I move to the paid version of yoast, and later drop back (or go to no support) will the yoast redirects still work? Or will I need to migrate them out again? And if so, how?

PS Love the plugin. it is excellent. Keep up the good work….

    Many thanks

  • Hi,

We have responded to both below.

A.Keeping them in the .htaccess or moving them into Yoast is your choice. The redirects will still work even if you have Yoast SEO Premium on your site. The only benefit of importing them into Yoast is to have better control over them. You can then easily change, delete, manage etc. those redirects. You can import them by going to SEO-Tools-Import/Export-.htaccess redirects. This guide explains more: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/import-redirects/

    B. Yes, all your redirects and premium features will still work. However, you will not be able to get support or updates as both require an active subscription.

You can learn more about the plugin including how to purchase it here: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/.?
