Customize HTTP 500 Error

    [Using theme: Minimal Zerif] When I attempt to make updates using the customize button, it throws an error:

    [website name].. currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500

    When I change the theme, this issues resolves. Contacted host, they said the error is specific to the theme and not a memory issue, or plug-in issue. Recommendations? Thoughts?
