Can’t get the z-index to work

Hello this is a great plugin and works well.

I use this for a search bar which sticks as you scroll down the page. My issue is that the body content overlaps the div I’m sticking. No matter what Z-index I use I can’t seem to get it to be on top. What do I need to do?
