Subscription hangs with white screen

After upgrading to 6.3.27, the client hangs after clicking on the Submit button to register on a mailing list. Until version 6.3.25, everything worked fine. Here are the details:
1) a form is created and added to a page using its shortcode
2) The user enters all details in the form and clicks on Submit
3) The page is completely cleared, displaying a white screen and hangs there
4) No email is sent to the user for confirmation of subscription
5) If debugging is enabled, no records are added to the debug log
6) The following error appears in the web server error log:PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Cannot use object of type WP_Error as array in /somewhere/wp-content/plugins/yikes-inc-easy-mailchimp-extender/public/partials/shortcodes/process/process_form_submission.php:184
What I have tried:
– clearing the browser cache: no effect
– completely uninstalling and then reinstalling the plugin: no effect

Same here https://www.verafletcherhall.co.uk. All browsers affected.
Have temporarily reversed update and form works as before.
