I’m having an issue when I add a New Button. Here are the steps and the result:

    1. I have 3 existing Buttons with the Social Share option activated
    2. Click on the Add Button button
    3. Add the content for the new button (Button Text, Button Icon, Link URL, Color options)
    4. Click Save Buttons

The Result: The new content changes to a duplicate of an existing button. For example: I have an existing button where the Button Text is a Phone Number (and uses fa-phone for the Button Icon), and I add a new button where the Button Text is LinkedIn (and uses fa-linkedin for the Button Icon). When I click Save Buttons, I now have two buttons that have the Phone Number content and NO LinkedIn button.

Has anyone else seen this bug?

Thanks for describing the issue so clearly. No, I haven’t seen this before. It sounds like it may be a conflict with something else running on your site. Could you try deactivating other plugins and then see if you can replicate the bug in Sticky Side Buttons?

Also, any errors in the console when this happens?

    Thanks,

@enigmaweb I was running only this plugin using the twenty-seventeen theme and I didn’t see any errors in the console or in the debug.log. I did get this to work only if I deleted all existing buttons and re-added them. I don’t know what the problem could’ve been.

That’s very odd. I’ve not had it reported before, and I can’t replicate. If it happens again I’d like to take a poke around – do feel free to reach out privately.

    I will. Thanks

I’ve encountered exactly this behavior on a site where we recently installed Sticky Side Buttons. I don’t run the entire site so I can’t disable all the other plugins but here’s what happened.

A colleague installed the plugin and set up four text buttons for Join, Give, Email, Facebook.

I decided to work on the colors a bit and deleted the Facebook button when I started work.

I altered the colors of background and text and then decided to add icons. I added an icon for the email button fa-envelope.

Then I added a new button for Facebook, set the colors and the icon, and when I clicked Save the email button changed to an exact copy of the Facebook button. I tried changing the text and icon on the email button, but saving made it a copy of the Facebook button again.

If I deleted the fourth button since I now had 2 Facebook buttons and decided to try adding the email button in as the fourth button. Doing so changed the Facebook button into a copy of the email button so that I then had two email buttons.

We definitely had four buttons at the start and the third and fourth were for email and facebook, so I’m not sure why adding a fourth button now causes the third button to become a copy of the fourth.

(Did a bit more testing and now I have 4 buttons as I want. One my first attempt, when the duplication occured, I would click “New button” then drag the button into the position I wanted, third or fourth in the list. But if I click “New Button”, leave the button first in the list and complete the info for it, then save, the duplication does not occur. I can then drag the button to the point in the list where I want it. Perhaps the duplication has something to do with moving the button before saving it?)
