    Hi @leftlane,

    Sorry that you ran into issues with this!

    Sounds like you might be hitting the PHP 5.4 issue that others have found.

    BD and WordPress recommend that you are on PHP 5.6 or higher. Can you double-check what version you’re running with your web host? if it’s less than 5.6, update to at least 5.6 (you can go higher, if you like). We’ve got some reports of an issue on PHP 7.1 at the moment so I would avoid that, but anything else should fix this issue.

    Try that and let me know if you run into more issues.

    Thanks for your prompt response, I’m using PHP 5.6 and still having the same issue

    Hi @leftlane,

    OK, that’s good to hear.

    If you’re seeing the directory as unavailable on the front end, it means you need to run the Manual Upgrade step from the admin dashboard.

    Login and go to Directory Admin->manage Options. You’ll see a button at the top telling you to perform a Manual Upgrade. Click that.

    Does that work?

    If not, contact us here with a link to the forum thread so we can help more directly: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/

    This also has happened to my site but with a twist. When the upgrade is actually run, the site will not allow me to go to the dashboard. I was using PHP 5.4 and upgraded to 5.6 but am very reluctant to just try the upgrade again. It takes me about an hour to pull a backup and update the site to a version that is a few days old. My question is whether just changing to 5.6 is sufficient to fix this issue. Yes I saw the prompt that the plugin was being upgraded but being locked out of the dashboard tells me that it could be more serious. Is 5.6 also the fix for the lockout issue on the dashboard?

    the plugin works only when I’m logged in , once I’m logged out then I get this message:

    The directory is not available at this time. Please try again in a few minutes or contact the administrator if the problem persists.

    Hi @leftlane and @lostpine,

    First, PHP 5.6 is definitely something you want to upgrade to if you haven’t already. That’s step 1.

    Step 2 is flushing your cache–@leftlane that was the key for your site. We actually were able to see everything work once we dumped both our browser and server cache for your site.

    If you don’t flush the cache after that upgrade operation, you’ll be seeing old data on your browser.

    We recommend clearing the server cache, if you have one (which is found either in your hosting settings or on your plugin settings for things like WP Super Cache and W3TC if you have them installed), as well as your client browser cache.

    The best way to get uncached data on your browser is to use a Private browsing window or Incognito mode (depending on your browser). That ensures you’re seeing the latest, correct data.

    At this point @lostpine, upgrade to 5.0.1 which is coming out in less than 45 min and then do your upgrades. The fixes in there handle several issues that came up today, including the PHP 5.4 one (it’s kinder about how it reacts now) and forcing the premium modules to check for updates so you get them at the same time.

    I flushed cache and waited until 5.0.1 was available. Also switched PGP to 5.6. The plugin asked to be manually updated. When I did I got this far:

    * Updating payment items format: 8 items remaining…
    * Updating payment items format: 0 items remaining…
    * Migrating listing information: 7 items remaining…
    * Migrating listing information: 0 items remaining…
    * Migrating fee plans…

    After that, update stopped. Plugin still shows it is pending updates. Website is floridamuzzleloadersassociation.org

    Out of ideas.

    Hi @lostpine,

    Well, that’s not good news…One last thing to try would be to flush your cache (server + browser both) to ensure you’re not seeing old data.

    If you don’t flush the cache after that operation, you’ll be seeing old data on your browser.

    Failing that, contact us here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/

    Well the incognito window did the trick. When I went to rerun the install, it instantly came back with installation complete. Site seems to be working now. Thank you for your assistance. We are still learning how to use this plugin effectively

    Glad to hear you moved forward!

    We have a lot of resources to help you get started on the plugin although we are trying to update them for 5.0 (can’t do everything at once as a small team!) We have a support forum ( https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum ), a great set of documentation ( https://docs.businessdirectoryplugin.com ), a Quick Start Guide ( https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/quick-start-guide ), and video tutorials ( https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/video-tutorials ) to help you out.

    We’re also working on a NEW Knowledge Base here:
    https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base

    But it’s a work in progress (but fully 5.0 updated!)
